The mission of the ASWCO is to “Enhance the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, cultural and social well-being of Aboriginal people of Ontario through physical activity, recreation, and sport activities.”
The ASWCO, operating as the Provincial Territorial Aboriginal Sport Body (PTASB) for Ontario is seeking nominations to fill positions in all three regions (south, central and north). Directors of the Board should expect a monthly commitment between 5 – 8 hours a month and Executive Board members approximately 10-15 hours per month. There will be approximately two face-to-face meetings per year which will require travel.
This is a voluntary board and no monetary compensation is provided. Expenses related to travel are covered.
Board members will be required to undergo a police check when working with youth (i.e. attendance/volunteering at North American Indigenous Games, National Aboriginal Hockey Championships, etc.).
Interested candidates can submit their name, or nominate another person. Deadline to submit nominations is September 7th, 2012. The Annual General Meeting is expected to occur September 22nd and 23rd, 2012 in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.
