Hundreds of aboriginal business owners are gathered in Ottawa to discuss economic opportunities and help raise awareness among First Nations communities about the importance of operating businesses.
With $500 billion worth of mining, forestry and oil discovery projects taking place across Canada, the potential for boosting employment in aboriginal communities is great – if it can be recognized.
“If you don’t have vision and commitment it makes it tough to create opportunities,” said Kelly Lendsay, chief executive of the Aboriginal Human Resources Council, a national organization, and host of the second annual Aboriginal Entrepreneurs Conference and Trade Show.
