August 7, 2012 – Faster Internet speeds, unlimited long distance calling and more customer choice, now available in six communities in the Kitikmeot and Kivalliq regions
Northwestel is pleased to announce the launch of next generation satellite Internet service in six communities: Arviat, Baker Lake, Cambridge Bay, Gjoa Haven, Kugluktuk and Rankin Inlet. The new service delivers fast, reliable, and affordable Internet to residential and business customers throughout the region.
“We are excited to be able to bring this new Internet service to Nunavut,” said Curtis Shaw, Vice President of Marketing at Northwestel. “At speeds of up to 2 Mbps, this is the fastest Internet experience available in Nunavut and provides customers additional choice for their broadband needs.”
As part of the new service package, customers have the ability to bundle their long distance telephone and Internet services together on one bill. They can also subscribe to unlimited Nunavut calling for $1 per month, or unlimited North American long distance for $10.95 per month.
For a limited time, Northwestel will provide and install the small satellite dish needed to access the new services for a one-time fee of $110. (The installation charge includes the price of the satellite dish). The introductory offer is available without a contract commitment for as low as $59.95/month.
Northwestel plans to offer the new service in more Nunavut communities later this year.
Customers in the Kitikmeot can subscribe to the new service by calling Northwestel’s care center at 1-888-423-2333. More information is also available at www.nwtel.ca/satellite
