NCC Launches Treaty Celebrations
On August 21, 2015, Nunatukavut will be marking the 250th anniversary of the British – Inuit Treaty of 1765. This treaty was a formal recognition of our Inuit occupancy in our territory prior to British contact, and the partnership from the treaty supports the evolving identity of who we are as aboriginal people today.
To launch the celebrations, NunatuKavut will be holding two events:
- A luncheon at the Labrador Friendship Centre on August 21, 2012 at 12:00 pm.
- A meet and greet at the Heritage Properties in St. Lewis on August 22, 2012 @ 2:00 p.m.
NCC members, interested members of the public and media are welcome to attend. Please direct inquiries to dearle@nunatukavut.ca..
